🛠️ Teacher Implementation Steps

1. Set Clear, Visual Expectations

Use 3–5 positively stated classroom rules (e.g., “We walk indoors.”)
Post visuals at child eye level
Review rules during morning meetings and transitions

2. Use Specific Language

Give clear, short instructions (e.g., “It’s time to clean up the blocks.”)
Avoid vague or open-ended prompts like “Be good” or “Stop that”
Use the child’s name and eye contact when giving directions

3. Give Choices & Warnings

Use if/then and first/then language:
“First we line up, then we go outside.”
Offer limited choices: “You can sit by me or on the rug.”

4. Model & Practice

Act out classroom expectations during circle time
Practice routines with songs and social stories
Praise the process (e.g., “I see you cleaned up without being asked—great listening!”)

5. Redirect Calmly

Move close to the child and restate the direction
Acknowledge emotion, then re-direct:
“I know you want to play, but now it’s time to clean up.”
