Standards of Conduct & Professional Expectations

YIA Schools operates programs nationwide and expects all employees to conduct themselves in a manner that protects the safety, well-being, and interests of children, families, staff, and the organization. Because it is not possible to list every form of unacceptable behavior, employees are expected to use sound judgment and professionalism at all times.

The following examples represent conduct that may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. This list is not exhaustive:

  • Theft, misuse, or unauthorized removal of school property

  • Falsification or manipulation of timekeeping or payroll records

  • Working under the influence of alcohol, illegal drugs, or misused substances

  • Violations of health, safety, or licensing regulations

  • Smoking or vaping on school property or in restricted areas

  • Excessive absenteeism, tardiness, or absence without notice

  • Leaving assigned classrooms or workstations without authorization

  • Unsatisfactory job performance or inappropriate conduct

  • Profanity, shouting, or inappropriate language in the presence of children

  • Sexual harassment or inappropriate behavior toward children, families, or staff

  • Inappropriate discussion of salaries or confidential employment matters

  • Repeated failure to meet YIA Schools quality standards

  • Verbal intimidation, sarcasm, passive-aggressive behavior, or threats toward children or employees

Professionalism Expectations

Employees of YIA Schools are childcare professionals and are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism. At all times, employees are expected to:

  • Arrive on time and remain for their scheduled shifts as required

  • Maintain reliable attendance

  • Dress appropriately for working with children

  • Accept direction, feedback, and coaching and take steps to improve performance

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and coworkers

  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and respect for YIA Schools’ policies, procedures, and brand

  • Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and school-related events

Failure to meet these expectations may result in disciplinary action in accordance with YIA Schools policy.
