Crib Safety during nap time

Purpose
To ensure the health and safety of infants during naptime by maintaining a safe sleep environment in accordance with recognized safe sleep standards.

Scope
This procedure applies to all staff members responsible for infant care during rest and naptime periods.

Procedure

  1. Infants must be placed in approved cribs for all naptime and rest periods.

  2. Blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, and any loose items are strictly prohibited in infant cribs during naptime.

  3. Infants must be placed on their backs to sleep unless a licensed medical provider provides written documentation stating otherwise.

  4. Cribs must be checked before each naptime to ensure they are free of unauthorized items.

  5. Staff must visually monitor infants at regular intervals throughout naptime to ensure continued safety.

Compliance
Failure to follow this SOP may result in corrective action, up to and including disciplinary measures, as this policy is critical to infant safety and regulatory compliance.

Documentation
Any deviations from this procedure or safety concerns must be reported immediately to the Director and documented according to center policy
