Lesson Planning & Infusion of the Four Pillars

To ensure that weekly lesson plans reflect intentional, high-quality instruction aligned with our core curriculum framework—the Four Pillars—and meet the developmental needs of all children in our care.

Scope

This SOP applies to all lead and assistant teachers responsible for classroom instruction.

Core Curriculum Framework: The Four Pillars

Each weekly lesson plan must integrate the following:

1. CAPE Strategy

   • Follow the sequence in every lesson plan to infuse 21st century skills: Connect, Analyze, Produce and Evaluate

   • Promote inquiry-based learning and reflective thinking

2. STEAM Learning

   • Include open-ended, hands-on activities in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math

   • Focus on discovery, experimentation, and innovation

3. Global Citizenship

   • Embed themes of diversity, empathy, cultural awareness, and social responsibility

   • Highlight real-world issues and promote compassion

4. Entrepreneurial Mindset

   • Provide opportunities for leadership, goal-setting, initiative, and creativity

   • Encourage children to think independently and act confidently

Procedure

1. Planning Timeline

• Lesson plans must be submitted by 5:00 PM every Friday for the upcoming week

• Use designated planning time to prepare, adapt, and reflect on instructional goals

2. Planning Process

• Log into the digital lesson plan platform

• Select lessons from thematic units that align with the children’s developmental levels and current interests

• Adapt activities to reflect current developmental assessments and individual learning goals

• Use anecdotal notes and assessment data (e.g., GOLD, ASQ) to inform modifications

3. Materials Preparation

• Gather and organize all materials for the following week during planning time

• Ensure learning centers and classroom environments are prepared and aligned with lesson goals

• Use the Weekly Materials Checklist to ensure readiness

4. Submission and Review

• Submit the completed weekly lesson plan electronically or in hard copy (based on center protocol) to the Assistant Director

• Assistant Director will review and provide feedback or suggestions for improvement as needed

5. Team Collaboration

• Discuss weekly themes and activities with assistant teachers and classroom team

• Clarify roles for facilitation of small groups, center rotations, and project-based work

Compliance

• Failure to submit lesson plans on time or to integrate the Four Pillars may result in a formal coaching conversation

• Continued non-compliance may lead to progressive disciplinary action
