To establish clear expectations and procedures for conducting baseline assessments at the start of the school year in order to guide individualized instruction, track developmental progress, and support school readiness goals.
š Scope
This SOP applies to all lead teachers, assistant teachers, and instructional coaches responsible for implementing classroom-based assessments.
š Timeline & Milestones

Week 1: Begin informal observations and gather anecdotal notes

1. Prepare Materials

Review age-appropriate assessment tools provided in the curriculum toolkit

Print or gather observation forms, checklists, and documentation portfolios

Label folders or digital profiles for each child
2. Observe & Interact Naturally

Use daily routines, play-based activities, and structured tasks to observe skills

Avoid testing environmentsāchildren should not feel evaluated

Record observations objectively and consistently
3. Complete Required Documentation

Complete the approved assessment form for each child

Include at least 2ā3 pieces of documentation per domain (photos, work samples, anecdotal notes)

Ensure documentation includes the date, childās name, and context of the observation
4. Use Data to Inform Instruction
