Job Title: Payroll Specialist in Childcare

Job Summary:

As a Payroll Specialist in Childcare, you will be responsible for managing and executing all payroll-related functions within a childcare organization. Your primary focus will be ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees in compliance with relevant regulations. Additionally, you will collaborate with various departments to address payroll-related inquiries, maintain records, and contribute to the overall efficiency of the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Processing:

Collect, verify, and input employee time and attendance data.

Calculate and process payroll accurately and in a timely manner.

Ensure compliance with relevant state and federal regulations regarding wages and payroll taxes.

Recordkeeping:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee payroll records.

Track and record employee benefits, deductions, and time-off accruals.

Compliance:

Stay informed about changes in labor laws, tax regulations, and other relevant legislation.

Ensure compliance with payroll-related laws and regulations.

Communication and Collaboration:

Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to resolve payroll-related issues.

Address employee inquiries related to payroll matters and provide excellent customer service.

Reporting:

Generate and distribute payroll reports to relevant stakeholders.

Prepare payroll-related reports for management as needed.

Systems Management:

Utilize payroll software and systems effectively.

Contribute to the enhancement and optimization of payroll processes and systems.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

Proven experience as a payroll specialist, preferably in the childcare or education sector.

In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and relevant compliance requirements.

Strong proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Excel.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

Certification in Payroll (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional – CPP).

Familiarity with childcare industry-specific payroll considerations.

Working Conditions:

Office-based environment with regular business hours.

Occasional overtime may be required during peak payroll periods.
