Confidentiality & Direct Communication
If a team member discusses a concern about another team member with someone who is not part of the problem or the solution, that conversation must be brought directly to the third-party team member within 48 hours.
This expectation exists to promote trust, transparency, and direct resolution.
Accountability & Conflict Resolution
The effectiveness of this Social Covenant depends on every team memberâs willingness to:
-
Hold themselves accountable
-
Allow others to hold them accountable
-
Participate in resolution with integrity and maturity
Step-by-Step Resolution Process
Step 1: One-on-One Conversation
The first response to a concern is always a private, direct conversation with the individual involved.
When initiating this conversation, team members agree to:
-
Go in Love (Kindness):Â I care more about you than about being right.
-
Go in Humility:Â I acknowledge that I could be wrong.
-
Go with Pre-Forgiveness:Â I have worked through my emotions internally before meeting.
-
Go with 100% Truth:Â I will share only facts, not assumptions or interpretations.
The intent must always be understanding, restoration, and resolution.
Step 2: Witness Support
If the concern is not resolved, one or two neutral individuals may be invited to serve as witnesses to the conversation and support clarity and accountability.
Step 3: Team Review
If resolution still does not occur, the matter will be mutually brought before the leadership team for guidance and resolution.
Step 4: Separation
If no resolution is reached after all steps have been followed, the parties agree that some form of separation may be necessary.
Our intent is that all issues are resolved at Step 1, and that further action is rarely, if ever, required.
Acknowledging Imperfection: The Six-Step Apology
We recognize that we are human and imperfect. When a team member fails to uphold this covenant, they commit to initiating the Six-Step Apology Process:
-
Acknowledge the offense:Â âI did ___.â
-
Admit responsibility:Â âI was wrong.â
-
Express remorse:Â âI am sorry.â
-
Ask for forgiveness:
âWill you forgive me, or when you are able, will you forgive me?â
(Wait for the response.) -
Invite accountability:
âWill you hold me accountable? I give you permission to do so going forward.â -
Seek closure:
âIs there anything else?â
Agreement & Commitment
By signing or acknowledging this Social Covenant, each team member commits to:
-
Upholding these standards consistently
-
Allowing themselves to be held accountable
-
Contributing to a culture that supports personal growth, professional excellence, and organizational success
This covenant reflects the type of environment we believe is essential to serve children, families, and one another with excellence.
