Emergency Evacuation Procedure SOP
Purpose
To ensure the safe and organized evacuation of all children, staff, and visitors from the premises in the event of an emergency. This procedure is designed to eliminate confusion and provide clear guidance during a crisis.
Immediate Actions
1. Initiate Emergency Response

Receptionist immediately calls 911 upon identifying the emergency.

Emergency services will be updated with location details and situation specifics.
2. Evacuate Building
-
Staff must follow the designated evacuation routes posted in each classroom.

Be familiar with all evacuation routes, especially if you assist in multiple rooms.
-
Each classroom is equipped with a gate key. Ensure it is easily accessible.
3. Take the Following Items

Red Emergency Bag (includes emergency contact lists, first aid supplies, flashlight, and medications).

Cell Phone for emergency communication.
Outside Assembly Procedures
4. At the Designated Assembly Point:

Conduct a face-to-name roll call using your roster.
-
Recount children and confirm totals with your assistant teacher.
-
Keep children calm and stay with your group at all times.
-
Wait for further instructions from administration.
In Case of Full Facility Evacuation
5. Notification and Relocation to Safe Zone

You will be notified via cell phone or PA system if a full evacuation is required.

Our assigned Safe Area is located near the facility (specific location posted in each classroom).

Receptionist will:

Notify the safe zone.
-
Place an Evacuation Notice on the front door.

6. Transition to Safe Area
-
Room 1 infants will be transported by crib.
-
Other classrooms will walk together to the safe area.
-
Transportation will be arranged if walking is not feasible.
-
Exit the building via the playground route.
-
Assistant Director will supervise the evacuation process.

Post-Evacuation

Once at the safe area:

Conduct another child count and roll call.

Remain in place until cleared by emergency personnel or directed by administration.

Use cell phones for all emergency communication (contact numbers in red bag).

Emergency Supplies
-
Red Emergency Bags (one per room): include flashlights, contact lists, emergency medications.
-
Emergency Lighting is provided via built-in emergency lights and flashlights in red bags.
-
Emergency Supply Crate (carried by Director) includes additional first aid, water, and essentials.
