JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Early Education Support Specialist/Coach  is responsible for education, supporting, training and coaching teachers and providing professional, reliable assessments of YIA teaching staff which encourages growth and focuses on improving quality of all Young Innovators Academy schools. To assist the Assistant Director and Director with implementation of the curriculum in all classrooms, coaching the staff regarding Innovation Advantage, curriculum, lesson plans, activities, classroom management, assessment, portfolios, child development and DAP and assessing professional developmental needs.

A teacher coach is a specialized instructional position that combines the roles of both teaching and coaching. This type of job requires individuals to possess expertise in both areas, as well as strong leadership skills and a passion for education. T. The ISC works collaboratively with classroom teachers and uses a variety of current evidence-based instructional strategies designed to meet the needs of all students. The ISC-Intervention provides staff development; supports teachers in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of evidence-based interventions; provides  intervention programs to targeted students, implements a variety of supplemental programs for targeted students. Compiles data for monitoring and evaluating student progress, disseminates this evidence to site administrators  on a periodic basis.

REQUIREMENTS:

Preferred knowledge and expertise in the areas of:

● Developmentally appropriate practices in early childhood education.

● Teacher training and curriculum development and implementation.

● Experience in preparation of lesson plans and teaching materials.

● Evaluation and assessment of both young children and adults.

● Experience designing and implementing training activities and materials.

● Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. The ability to speak, interpret and translate Spanish is a positive asset for this position.

● Must have the desire to advance professional skills continually, exhibit a strong work ethic, ability to prioritize, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

● Must have the capacity to manage stress appropriately and manage multiple tasks and priorities.

● Must be willing to travel within and out of Seminole County to perform required tasks and provide their own reliable transportation. Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License, a good driving record, and automobile insurance when an owned vehicle will be used for traveling.

● Experience in working with all age children in a childcare setting.

● Hold at least a CDA or higher in early childhood education.

● Have at least one year management experience.

● Communicate sensitively and effectively with staff and parents.

● Be able to work until 6:30 p.m.

● Have knowledge of DAP and YIA curriculum.

● Computer literate.

● Certified in CPR and First Aid.

● Certified in fire extinguisher use.

● Certified in child abuse with refresher every two years (if employee does not have,

  • must complete within first week of employment)

● Certified in Standard Precautions in handling blood fluids and injury fluid discharges with refresher every two year (if employee does not have, must complete within first week of employment)

● Upon hire you must present a note of good health from a licensed physician, renewing it every two years.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Deliver high-impact, teacher-centered coaching support
  •  Assist the teachers with implementing appropriate teaching strategies for children based on DAP theories.
  •  Coach employees to improve performance
  •  Aid in goal-setting and modeling best practices
  •  Assist in the accreditation process.
  •  Effectively collect and use data to engage in coaching conversations that lead to improved teacher practice and child outcomes
  •  Multitask and be able to prioritize.
  • Meet all DCF requirements.
  •  Maintain accreditation standards.
  • Propose a online classroom observation tool assessment for teachers (Class, Mosaic.) for teacher observations.
  • Observing teachers in the classroom and providing constructive feedback to help them improve their teaching techniques.
  • Collaborating with teachers to develop individualized professional development plans based on their strengths, weaknesses and needs.
  • Providing training and workshops on various topics such as lesson planning, assessment strategies, classroom management and technology integration.
  • Co-teaching with teachers to model effective instructional practices.
  • Using data and evidence-based strategies to help teachers analyze student performance and make targeted instructional decisions.
  • Supporting the implementation of new curriculum, instructional methods or assessments.
  • Facilitating peer mentoring and collaboration among teachers.
  • Utilize evidence-based practices to design, implement, monitor, and evaluate intervention services created to meet targeted students’ needs.
  • Coordinate video production to model effective teaching practices of the
  • Plan collaboratively with classroom teachers to provide effective instructional intervention services aligned to the core curriculum and targeted to meet individual student needs.
  • Provide and attend staff development sessions and provide coaching related to collaboration and effective instruction.
  • Maintain current knowledge of educational research, materials and strategies by attending meetings, trainings and conferences.
  • Advise and monitor progress of at risk students through the collection, maintenance and analysis of student assessment data.
  •  Provide parents with information and curricular ideas to support learning at home.
  • Helps coordinate annual and special projects which have a curriculum focus (e.g., outdoor education, cultural arts, education fair, and kindergarten roundup).
  • Assesses, with staff involvement, school training needs and plans, conducts and evaluates programs, or activities to meet identified needs.
  • Assists in the process of involving parents and other community members as volunteers in the school.
  • Obtain 35 clock hours training each year including topics related to management.
  •  Assists the directors set yearly goals and expectations for the teachers (Signed by the teacher and director)
  •  Coach the correct implementation of the Innovation Advantage, YIA curriculum, framework, and guidelines.
  •  Coach the teachers in following schedules, lesson plans and YIA and DCF rules and regulations
  •  Conducts classroom and teacher observations (weekly). The observation data collected will provide the basis for learning-focused dialogue, feedback, and reflection.
  •  Assists in developing a mentoring program.
  •  Participate in monthly curriculum planning meetings and sessions if needed.
  •  Assists in developing teaching strategies by analyzing videotaped instructions, analysis of student learning, peer observations.
  •  Provide on-site consultation and targeted training; classroom-focused mentoring; modeling; videotaping and feedback; problem-solving; and print materials to reach goals and outcomes
  •  Provide training sessions in health and safety practices, the inclusion of children with disabilities, and early literacy, etc
  •  Assist in creating reports based on data collection.
  •  Serve as the Young Innovators Academy representative to build and maintain a positive relationship and interaction with teachers.
  •  Participate in professional development to acquire and/or maintain certifications and trainings.
  •  Stay abreast of new early childhood trends, and SR/VPK programs requirement trends.
  •  Share with appropriate staff information/knowledge gathered at conferences and meetings.
  •  Ability to organize, coordinate projects, set priorities, meet deadlines and follow-up on own assignments with little or no supervision.
  •  Ability to work effectively with adult learners, especially in the areas of training and application of motivational strategies.
  •  Collaboratively work and foster teamwork amongst cross-functional teams.
  •  Ability to effectively communicate sensitive information and exercise sound judgment.
  •  Ability to work and communicate with people from various multi-cultural backgrounds and socioeconomic levels.
  •  Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables.
  •  Proficiency in the operation and use of personal computers and computer software applications (Microsoft Office Suite). Ability to navigate the internet.

Deliverable to Director/Area Manager:

● Classroom observation forms (weekly)

● Teacher observation forms

● Evidence of classroom observations per age group.

● Identifies domains in which teachers need additional coaching.

● Serve as the Young Innovators Academy representative to build and maintain a positive relationship and interaction with teachers.

● Assist the Area Manager with the design and coordination of professional development activities annually and after that with ideas for innovative enhancements of new initiatives that will enhance Young Innovator’s high-quality education services.

Professional Conduct:

● Responsible for reporting immediately to the management of any suspected fraud, misrepresentation, any irregularity and suspected irregularity involving employees as well as families served.

● Adhere to the policies and procedures of Young Innovators Academy while maintaining high levels of confidentiality and discretion.

● Attend work consistently, and punctual/according to Young Innovators Academy policy.

● Adhere to dress code.

● Contribute positively to the work environment by supporting new ideas and change when applicable.

● Represent the Young Innovators Academy professionally at all times.

● Demonstrate high standards of integrity, accountability, and service as defined by the values of Young Innovators Academy.

● Ensure that all information of a confidential nature is held in a secure and confidential method.

● Complete all reports in a timely and comprehensive manner as required
