LEAD TEACHER

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Be responsible for implementing curriculum in the classroom; responsible for the supervision and management of children in the classroom; knowledgeable in developmentally appropriate practices to Supervise assistant teachers and children in their room ensuring activities and curriculum are adhered to as required by the Director
REQUIREMENTS:
21 years old
Provide all medical records, abuse clearance, criminal records check,
fingerprint clearance, high school diploma and any other forms or information required by the state regulatory agency.
Maintain the state requirements for training hours.
Must be able to lift fifty pounds, sit on the floor, and be actively involved with the children.
Evidence of emotional maturity and stability which demonstrates the ability to show good judgment in handling a crisis situation.
Ability to supervise assistants and floaters.
Computer literate
Dependability and promptness
Maintain CPR and First Aid
Maintain blood borne pathogens and fire extinguisher.
Maintain child abuse and neglect.
CDA or higher in Early childhood education and 45 hours training in Early Childhood Education/Child Development
Must have experience working in an early care group setting (infant, toddler
and/or preschool)
Preferred qualifications: AA in Early Childhood Education/Child
Development or related field.
Experience in a full day childcare setting in a teaching capacity.
Familiarity with DCF requirements and NAEYC Accreditation guidelines
appropriate practices.
Satisfactory completion of a fingerprint background check
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Goal setting and personal responsibility.
Update professional development plan. Each year the director and teacher will establish an annual goal-setting process to ensure continuous improvement (Yearly)

Safety and security
Adhere to all policies and procedures of the center, including hand washing, diapering, playground.
Supervise children at all times maintaining a secure and safe environment for children to play and learn in,
Maintain attendance records and required forms.
Be aware of children with allergies.
Know the procedures for the care of an injured child and document the incident promptly.
Prepare daily reports for each child in their classroom,
Maintain a safe and healthy environment within guidelines established by State Licensing.
Coordinate parent conferences, accident reports, medicine permission slips,
Maintains classroom communication for substitute teachers with information about children and families.
CURRICULUM IMPLEMENTATION:
Demonstrates knowledge of content and philosophy
Plans curriculum and materials needed for the week prior to starting the program.
Demonstrates knowledge of resources
Written plans are posted on parent board and submitted to program coordinator on a weekly basis.
Develops Individual lesson plans and strategies for each student.
Individual needs are identified, and assessments are conducted on a regular basis and are incorporated into the curriculum plans.
Conducts weekly assessments and anecdotal records with children.
Updates childrenās portfolios
Choices are regularly available and learning centers are set up in advance at the beginning of the day.
Prepare and implement lesson plans.
Assist the Director in training new employees,
Supervise and train aids in their room on procedures and regulations.
Attending ongoing training to keep education and regulations up to date.
Involve classroom teachers and teacher assistants in planning and supervising activities. (Meet weekly)
Establishes an internal communication system for other teachers in the classroom.
Maintain childrenās classroom files. Files should include, but need not be limited to, initial family interview, parent conferences, accident reports, medicine permission slips,
Prepares assessments, portfolio (artwork, anecdotal observations, photos, dictations, etc.).
Provide an annual written assessment of each child using the assessment tool chosen by the staff.
Attend staff meetings outside work hours.
Demonstrates proficiency in applying principles in the context of the curriculum, didactic materials, and
lesson presentations.
Designs and maintains a developmentally appropriate Reggio and STEAM environment in response to the needs of students.
Utilizes a variety of instructional strategies and assessment methods.
Demonstrates an awareness and understanding of governmental regulations.

PARENT RELATIONS PROCESS :
Conduct new parent orientation.
Complete a personal information interview with parent prior to the childās first day of attendance.
Interact daily with parents. Give brief verbal reports and written notices when necessary.
Hold two scheduled parent conferences per year with each Family and Document each conference.
Submit conference documentation to the director.
Establish a cooperative relationship with parents of children in the assigned group.
Prepare ages and stages reports on children whose parents have given permission on
Maintain classroom parent information board.
LEADERSHIP AND MENTORING TRAINING:
Orient new teaching staff to the group.
Plan and conduct quarterly teacher assistant in-service training in conjunction with other.
Supervise classroom teaching staff.
Provide on-the-job training for all classroom personnel and volunteers.
Update annual professional and classroom goals with program director.
Meet with Program director monthly and as needed basis to evaluate, plan and problem-solve class and
center issues.
Continue ongoing professional development.
Complete required hours to maintain Child Development Permit.
With Center administrators participate in an annual program evaluation and goal setting process
Safety forms (cleaning, playground, incident…)
Supply and materials order list and reports, classroom procedures
Portfolios, assistant director form, annual written assessment reports, student assessments and portfolios.
Submit documentation to the director on a timely basis.
Documentation may include, but is not limited to parent conference forms, assessments, daily activity sheets, special needs forms, petty cash, professional goals, and newsletters, initial parent interview
