🎯 Purpose

To ensure all teaching staff are effectively trained to implement the Young Innovators digital and classroom curriculum with fidelity. This SOP provides a structured process for curriculum orientation, modeling, coaching, and ongoing support to ensure instructional consistency and quality.


 

📌 Scope

This SOP applies to all new and existing lead teachers, assistant teachers, and instructional aides, and is carried out by center directors, assistant directors, and curriculum coaches.


 

🛠️ Procedures

1. Pre-Training Preparation

  • Confirm teacher access to the digital curriculum platform (username, login instructions, and tech orientation).

  • Print or share copies of:

    • Weekly planning guides

    • Sample lesson plans

    • Implementation checklist

    • Assessment tools

  • Set the training schedule and assign a mentor or coach if applicable.


 

2. Initial Curriculum Orientation (Week 1 of Employment)

  • Introduce the philosophy, goals, and structure of the curriculum.

  • Provide a walkthrough of:

    • Weekly and daily planning formats

    • Materials preparation

    • Observation and documentation expectations

    • Digital upload procedures (photos, reflections, lesson notes)

  • Review the pacing guide and how to adapt plans while maintaining fidelity.


 

3. Modeling & Classroom Integration (Weeks 2–4)

  • Pair the teacher with a lead or coach for guided observation of curriculum delivery.

  • Model at least one small group activity and one circle time using the digital lesson plan.

  • Observe the teacher co-leading or independently leading lessons and provide immediate feedback.


 

4. Hands-On Practice & Planning Support

  • Provide structured planning time for the teacher to prepare their first full week of lessons.

  • Review and provide feedback on their lesson prep by Friday of each week.

  • Ensure materials are gathered, and all uploads are completed.


 

5. Ongoing Coaching and Feedback

  • Conduct weekly or bi-weekly check-ins during the teacher’s first 90 days.

  • Use the Curriculum Fidelity Rubric to assess:

    • Engagement with the digital platform

    • Consistency of implementation

    • Quality of classroom delivery

    • Use of observation and documentation tools

  • Set short-term goals for growth and improvement.


 

6. Professional Development Integration

  • Enroll teachers in quarterly curriculum training webinars or in-person PD sessions.

  • Encourage peer sharing of best practices during staff meetings or professional learning communities (PLCs).

  • Provide supplemental resources and videos as needed to strengthen content understanding.


 

✅ Success Indicators

  • Teachers are fully trained and independently planning within 4 weeks of hire.

  • Weekly lesson plans are prepared and aligned with platform objectives.

  • Observations confirm curriculum is being delivered with fidelity.

  • Teachers understand how to adapt activities while maintaining developmental goals.

  • Documentation is uploaded consistently and reflects meaningful instruction.
