Staff Lunch Time Policy

Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to ensure proper supervision of children, maintain professionalism within learning environments, and provide staff with a designated space to rest and recharge during their scheduled lunch breaks.

Policy Statement
All staff members are required to take their lunch breaks in the designated staff employee lounge or outside of the facility.

At no time should staff members remain in classrooms, the front office, hallways, or any other areas of the school during their lunch period, with the exception of the staff lounge.

Expectations

  • Lunch breaks must be taken only in approved areas (staff lounge or outside the facility).

  • Staff may not eat or remain in classrooms, administrative offices, or child-accessible areas during lunch time.

  • This policy applies regardless of whether children are present in the space at the time of the break.

Rationale
Designated lunch areas help:

  • Maintain consistent supervision standards for children

  • Protect staff break time as uninterrupted, duty-free time

  • Uphold professional boundaries within learning and administrative spaces

  • Ensure compliance with licensing and workplace expectations

Failure to follow this policy may result in corrective action in accordance with school disciplinary procedures.
